Pull-Off Adhesion Testing (ASTM D4541)
TechnicalPull-off tests measure coating adhesion on metal, wood, and other rigid substrates. Performing these tests is important in determining if the adhesive strength is appropriate for a specific project.
The first step in performing this test is to properly prepare a dolly by adhering it to the substrate. After the adhesion is fully cured, pull the dolly off perpendicularly to the surface. Using a tester can give you the tensile pull-off strength.
In this video, Dr. Oleg Afanasyev uses a PosiTest® AT pull-off adhesion tester to perform ASTM D4541.
